As part of the memorial service for John Blatchley Chiswick Baroque will be singing “I have loved Thee with an Everlasting Love” a new piece written for the occasion by Julian Dawes. CB will also be singing “The Priestly Blessing by Julian Dawes” which we premiered in November 2007.
Julian Dawes writes: “The event is a memorial service for the life of the theatre and opera director, John Blatchley. It will be designed to reflect his work in the theatre both in Britain and in France, his work over many years for the English National Opera, and his important and innovative work in the training of actors.
My connection with him is that I worked for him as a teacher, with him as a musical director of theatre productions, but above all he influenced me artistically beyond measure when I was a young man.”
